Complex cable soldering

Post by TomAdmiraal » 10-05-2017 14:33

We received the following application for cable soldering.
It is a copper cable, clamped with a cableshoe. The customer wants the copper wires sticking out of the cables shoe covered with solder.
The cable attached to the cable shoe has a lenght in 2 sizes.

Customer does not want 'burnt solder' or flux on the cable shoe. Solder or flux cannot drop down on the parts where the cableshoe is clamped on the cable.
There are 2 size in diameter of the cable.

The cable shoe and of course the copperwire is a massive heatsink. Because of the round shape of the cableshoe a lot of ideal tips cannot be used.
If we apply to much heat, the insulation will melt or change color. Thisn is not allowed.
Cycle time per cable has to be less than 90 sec.
